Hello Ellis students and families! My name is Mr. Kahn, and I am the 5th-grade SBA teacher. I believe in fostering a lifelong love of learning, which I seek to exemplify. I received my Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology and Education, my Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Elementary Education, a graduate certificate in teaching students with emotional and behavioral needs, and I am currently pursuing my Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) in Special Education. I am entering my 8th year of teaching and am excited to see what new experiences it brings.
I enjoy spending time with my two adorable cats, family, and friends, and learning about passion topics. I also play soccer as much as I can—which is never enough!
My vision of education centers on the entire student. I believe that every child is beyond capable. I strive to support students' social-emotional wellness and academic growth through learning opportunities, be it in math, ELA, or community moments. To conclude, I want to leave you with my favorite education quote: "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." I promise to teach our students in a way that is accessible and responsive.
