School Site Council
In Boston Public Schools (BPS), every school has a School Site Council (SSC)—a team made up of parents, teachers, and the school principal with parents and professional educators equally represented. Parent members are chosen by fellow parents through elections held in the fall.
The School Site council ensures parents and staff all have a voice in shaping their school’s future. The Council reviews and approves key planning and budgeting, including the Quality School Plan and discretionary spending. It also serves as a forum for decisions around school policies and procedures.
SSC meetings are public and follow the state’s open meeting laws. Anyone can attend to stay informed and minutes are available for review.
Ellis School Site Council Meeting Schedule and Minutes are posted on this page. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Ms. Chew ([email protected])!
